Workshops

The Billboard LAB will be installed in various Thames Gateway South Essex sites in 2007 including schools in Thurrock, Basildon and Southend-on-Sea, providing a free media facility for young people to create films, adverts, slogans and messages that reflect their views on regeneration and the communities in which they live.

Young people involved in the Billboard project will have access to high quality training from creative industry professionals in film and video production and the benefit of a partnership with Channel 4’s ‘4 Talent’ organisation. They will also receive a “tool kit” magazine which will guide them through the process of consultation and interview techniques, alongside the key economic, social and physical factors affecting Thames Gateway South Essex regeneration.

The resulting output will help identify regeneration issues for the local authority and inspire community and business engagement. This ground-breaking project will contribute to the creation of the first national Young People’s Manifesto for Urban Development and Regeneration, which will be presented to Government.
