B.Project
The Billboard Project is a unique, creative regeneration project mobilising young people to produce a ‘Young People’s Manifesto for Urban Development and Regeneration’. Billboard will provide the means for young people to become community reporters, investigators and champions for positive change.
The project is built around a partnership between Creative Partnerships Thames Gateway, Futurecity, Basildon District Council and Southend and Thurrock Unitary Authorities, with media partners Channel 4/Talent. Billboard is supported by Arts Council England, East and EEDA via their unique shared prospectus which identifies three common areas for strategic joint investment that will harness the power of the arts and creativity to transform the social, economic and material conditions of local people and communities
The Billboard Lab is a customised shipping container conceived of by Futurecity that transforms into a fully equipped film studio where young people will develop their creative skills, explore regeneration issues and engage with local communities. The Billboard website will provide a dedicated space for regeneration and showcase work produced through the project.
Billboard will lead to a national conference that enables young people to debate, challenge and refine the young people’s manifesto before presentation to Government. As part of this, from the 22th to 25th June the Lab will be at Tate Modern as part of the London Debates and Global Cities exhibition.
